Cook At Popular Steak Restaurant ID'd As Pedestrian Killed In Bergen County Hit-Run (Update)

The victim of a deadly Bergen County hit-and-run crash has been identified as a cook at a popular steak restaurant along Route 17.

UPDATE: Arrest Made In Crash That Killed George Arnold, 57

George Arnold, 57, of Lyndhurst, was struck and killed just before 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10 at the intersection of Ridge Road and Milton Avenue in Lyndhurst, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. The striking vehicle fled the scene.

An employee at Steve's Sizzling Steaks on Route 17 in Carlstadt confirmed that Arnold was a cook at the restaurant, a more than 80-year-old eatery and go-to spot for steaks for many residents.

An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Lyndhurst Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Jarvis.
